:: Central Europe has a chance to become a crossing of ideas, trends and business

Jan Vyškovský 24.03.2003, section Fairs

Interview with Miloň Mlčák, manager of the fair Mobitex.

What are the goals of the fair Mobitex in terms of international position of the fair?
Mobitex doesn't have the ambition become something as are furniture fairs in Milano or Köln. We would like to succeed in context of Central and Eastern Europe, including Russia. I expect that we will become a gateway of business not just of Western and Central Europe. We want to present new products before they are introduced on the Moscow fair.

Are Brno Business Fairs looking forward to entry of EU? Will your opportunities change?
It is hard to say, because it different with every project. Personally I am optimistic and I hope that some of the problems with borders and its formalities will diminish. But it will be also great challenge for companies. Our company will try to deliver its best - beautiful premises of Brno's fairground. But the rest is on companies themselves. It is not just about buying the exhibition site, but you need also prepare a good campaign.

What do you want to offer next year to big furniture companies - to those which are bringing the industrial design?
At first place we want to increase the number of visitors. That means not just experts and traders, but also a common consumers from Czech and abroad.

What do you want to offer to smaller producers and architectural studios - to those who are bringing that atypical design?
We want to support architects and designers in their personal presentations. That should provide them with presentation towards customers but also with discussion with students and confrontation with their rivals.

Mobitex has enlarged by 50% compared to last year and you have also 30% more exhibitors from abroad. Do you thing that Mobitex has changed in something?
Definitely Mobitex is more diverse and attractive for visitors. We succeeded because of better communication between fairs and furniture industry. That helped us clearly define assignment of the fair.

What has personally pleased you?
Absolutely the response of satisfied visitors, not just counting experts but also common visitors. I was also delighted that companies are changing their attitude towards the presence at the fair and are better using possibilities of Mobitex.
