Central Europe as a meeting place for ideas, tendencies and business
Jan Vyškovský 08.12.2003, section Fairs
We have talked with Miloň Mlčák, project manager of the trade fair MOBITEX, about the possibilities and future of furniture, home-textiles and interior decorations market.
What are the goals of the trade fair MOBITEX in the international scale?
Trade fair MOBITEX is not intended to become event of a scale as fairs in Köln or Milan. We want to succeed in the context of the Central and Eastern Europe. We want to be the take-off point for businesses from Western and Central Europe in the eastern direction.
What do you expect from Czech Republic entering the EU? Will your opportunities change or improve?
It is difficult to say. It is different from project to project. Personally, I see it positively and I believe that it might help us with our intentions and plans. But we have to be well prepared. The new conditions will challenge not just us - trade fairs management, but also our customers.
What do you want to offer to big furniture producers in the next year?
We are offering them a trade fair which prestige improves year to year significantly. We will work further on attendance. And just not on total number (in last year we had 57.000 visitors from 31 countries), but mainly on structure of visitors - experts and businessman, both domestic and foreign (last year 53% share).
What do you want to offer to small size companies and design studios?
We want to support designers and architects in their personal presentation. For sure will help them our new project DESIGNSTORY that focuses on progressive domestic and foreign design in the context of the trade fair MOBITEX.
MOBITEX was last year larger by 50% and the participants from abroad increased by 30%. Do you think that MOBITEX has changed?
MOBITEX was certainly more varied and attractive for visitors. We have succeeded thanks to better communication between trade fairs management and furniture industry representatives. That helped us to define better the goal of our trade fair and the result was an evident success.
What have you pleased you personally?
It was definitely the reaction of satisfied participants and visitors. I was also pleased that we succeeded in creating a functional team with our partners and customers whose main goal was the success of MOBITEX as whole.
